Reporting to the Vice President Omnichannel Sales and Operations & Marketing and Communications, the Store Planning Project Manager will support all real estate initiatives from implementation to final delivery. His/her primary focus will be the planning & construction of store concepts, as well as maintenance, special projects, presentations and vendor/tenant relations. He/ she will regularly act as a project lead, track and maintain all assigned real estate planning: new stores, remodel projects, closures etc. He / she will review the status of all real estate plans and projects with the Vice President Omnichannel Sales and Operations & Marketing and Communications. He/she identifies, develops and provides related information and analysis in support of the company’s projects involving Store Capital & Operating Expense.
To do so, the Store Planning Project Manager will be expected to…
Assist in the development of project plans with internal and external stake holders on all Store Planning and
Design Projects including the Wholesale division as well
Responsible in various Store Planning initiatives to ensure a smooth execution of all project related activities.
Responsible for the communication with all internal and external teams, construction managers, consultants and agencies
Responsible in the communication of design requirements to General Contractors, Architects and Engineers.
Monitors and facilitates the completion of all projects on a timely basis within budget.
Ensures all capital expense related to store renovation/maintenance projects are completed, authorized and within profit plan as well as monitored accordingly.
Provide monthly reports on maintenance and general ongoing construction projects.
Prepares the Store Operating Expense breakouts (maintenance and others)
Builds decision models to determine cost and viability of various initiatives
Provides the Senior Management with breakout and allocation of operating profit plan for store constructions/maintenance
Develops mid to long-term strategies for Birks retail distribution stores
Draft specifications for modification or enhancements of information systems reporting and applications for I.T.
Work with architect/project managers regarding physical and operational requirements of renovated and new stores and builds timelines to ensure minimal disruption of business.
Researches pricing and organizes quotes from suppliers and prepares proposals for various projects and expenses
Prepares and distribute various weekly and monthly reporting on a timely basis
Supports inventory control initiatives and coaches staff as required
Oversees the implementation and installation of new equipment in the stores, in some cases in collaboration with I.T Department.
Oversees and monitors all store leasing contracts as well as the negotiation of the leases.

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or related field required
5 years relevant experience in Store Planning Project Management role
5 years’ experience in the retail industry or Agency
AutoCAD skills (asset), Word and Excel
3d visualization skills (Sketch-up or 3d-Max) strong asset.
Adobe Creative Suite (asset).
Knowledge of current construction practices and materials, design, lighting design.
Comprehension of construction drawing set
Negotiating skills with contractors and vendors
Able to multitask in a fast paced environment
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent Customer Service skills
Bilingual: French and English (spoken/written) is a strong asset
